With their matte surfaces, shades of grey and nebulous motifs, the black-and-white photographs of the Belgian artist Dirk Braeckman (*1958) are enigmatic. Combining the ephemeral with weightiness, touch with distance, and operating at the limits of the photographic medium, the pictures refrain from telling stories, even if the temptation is there. Leaving the moment of pressing the shutter release far behind, each work ultimately reveals the diffuse process of its creation.
For the EMOP Berlin, Galerie Thomas Fischer is showing works by Braeckman at two exhibition locations. The first part of the exhibition can be seen in the rooms of Galerie Thomas Fischer.
